Each Scout Troop consists of small units of six to eight Scouts called a Patrol, usually led by a Patrol Leader. They are between the ages of 10.5 - 14. If your child would like to join us, or you've got an interest in helping us out then please get in touch - we'd love to hear from you!
We meet on Friday nights from 19:15-21:00 with 22 active members.
Team Leader - Colin Clarke
Team Member - Jordan Glencastle
Team Member - George Austin
Our Scout Leader is Colin Clarke and our assistant leaders are Jordan Glencastle, Peter Smith (Assistant Group Scout Leader) and George Austin.
Colin joined 1st Fressingfield in 2013 as the Adventure Scout Leader. Since the formation of the Yoxford and Peasenhall satellite group, Colin has become their Scout Leader. Colin is also a PE Coach and Outdoor Learning Instructor and is part of group’s archery, shooting and fencing instructor team. Jordan left the Explorer Unit in 2017 after completing the Kenya Expedition and has been a member for 10 years.
The programme is based around three main themes: Outdoor and Adventure, World and Skills. Each theme supports all aspects of Scouting.
In recent years, we have been rock climbing, tubing, abseiling, scrambling and weaselling. On Friday sessions, we have taken part in fencing, archery, martial arts, shooting, team-building activities as well as game preparation, hiking and survival skills. On top of this, we have attended several group camps, summer camps, Water Activity Weekends and, in 2018, NORJAM whilst learning about global issues including foodbanks, Fair Trade and diversity.
